The NFC tag on the table or at the till, or the QR code on the cup, opens your guest page in the phone's browser. No app to download and no account to create.
The guest shows their card and staff scan it with the staff page on the till phone or iPad. One tap and the stamp is there, and a mistake can be undone straight away.
When the card is full the reward shows on the guest's card and staff redeem it at the till. Then a new card starts.
You choose how many stamps it takes and what the reward is. The terms are printed on the card, together with the fact that a card unused for 24 months is deleted, so the guest always knows what applies. No prize draws: a reward after a set number of visits, nothing left to chance.
New venues start with a 10-slot card where 2 slots are already stamped. The idea comes from research on the endowed progress effect: in a study by Nunes and Drèze (2006), 34% of customers completed a 10-stamp card that came with 2 free stamps, against 19% for a blank 8-stamp card needing the same number of purchases. The study was done at a car wash, not a café, so treat it as a direction rather than a promise. You can change the setup at any time.
The dashboard shows new cards, return visits, stamps and redeemed rewards, and a summary arrives by email every week. Those are numbers a paper card can never give you.
The guest can save their card with an email address and find it again on a new phone, and staff can look the card up by email at the till. Without an email the card stays on that phone, just like a paper card stays in a wallet.
Today the card works in the phone's browser. Support for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet is built into Foodians, and the button appears for guests once Wallet cards have been switched on.
Foodians doesn't connect to your POS, so there's nothing to switch. It also means stamping is a quick scan by staff, not automatic on payment.
